All Nines for the Level 7 Team
Feb. 22 — Each of the Level 7 team members competing at JPAC in late February nearly posting all scores in the nine range with Gabbie Forbis achieving a score over 9.0 on each of the four events.
Leading the team in the all-around, Forbis scored a season-best 37.150 placing fourth individually and taking the team to a sixth-place finish overall. The team’s total of 111.675 was the highest team score of the season thus far.
Floor proved again to be the team’s strongest event, posting the second-best score at the event with a 28.80. Forbis led the way with a huge 9.675 earning herself a gold medal while Laila Gilbert (9.60) and Cali Kruer (9.525) also came up big. Ari Bordenkircher and Stella Klaus also achieved high scores of 9.450 and 9.50, respectively. Gilbert and Klaus’ score represent new season-highs.
A triad of athletes posted marks in the 9.30 range on the beam to set a season-best total of 28.025 on the event. Kruer earned the team’s top mark with a 9.375 while Bordenkircher and Forbis rounded out the event. All of the Level 7 gymnasts earned nines on the event.
Improving their score on the bars, Bordenkircher was the team’s top performer with a 9.425 placing third in her division. Klaus consistency on the event contributed to the team event total for the fourth time this season with a score of 9.20. Forbis rounding out the total with a 9.10.
Onto the vault, Gilbert posted the highest mark also setting a new season-high on the event with a 9.250. Forbis achieved her final event score above a nine with a 9.075 while Bordenkircher put up her best performance to contribute to the total counting an 8.80.
Bordenkircher also achieved an all-around total above a 37.0 scoring a 37.025 for sixth.
The team is back in action this weekend for the Arnold Challenge in Columbus before competing at the State Championships at the end of March.
