Bronze Team Sets New Season-Highs in February Competitions
Feb. 8 — The Bronze team competed at the For Love or Money Invitational (FLOM) and Victory Challenge (Victory) during February where they set five new season-highs as a team. The team’s best overall score of the season came at FLOM where they tallied a 111.650 for third overall.
Also, at FLOM, the team earned their top score of the season on the vault and beam. Alayna Rutherford contributed to both events with her scores of 9.30 and 9.450 on vault and beam, respectively. In addition to Rutherford’s marks, Elyzabeth Collingwood posted the top score on vault (9.40) winning the event while Kora Irwin also contributed to the event with a 9.250. On beam, Kennedy Pearson was the team’s top performer with a 9.550 earning herself a gold medal in her division. Also earning gold was Jayden Lynn’s score of 9.50. The team improved their event scores on the vault (27.950) and beam (28.50) by four tenths from the previous competition.
At Victory, the Bronze team posted two marks of 28.30 to set new season-highs on the bars and floor. Ma’Kenzie Grinter was the team’s standout performer on both events. Taking the gold medal for each of her performances, Grinter posted a huge 9.70 on floor and 9.50 on bars, season-high scores for herself. Grace Garland (9.450) and Moly Dohm also contributed to the bars total while Collingwood and Madelyn Brandenburg each posted a 9.30 to round out the floor total.
In the all-around, Grinter improved her total by half a point taking home the medal with a 37.50 at Victory. Garland set new-season highs on all four events tallying a 36.450, over a point higher than her previous mark. At FLOM, Irwin advanced her all-around total by nearly a point (37.0) for first overall while Lynn set new season-highs on all four events for third overall with a 36.750.
The team will compete at the Indiana Xcel State Championship in late March.
