Getting Back to #SIGSgym
Updated: May 18
SIGS has been closed due to COVID-19 for nine weeks as of this writing. And while we're all ready to put this behind us, we recognize that what "normal" looks like, will not be what we practiced even 12 weeks ago, before this fear crept into our lives.
#SIGSgym will use an abundance of caution for the safety and health of our families, especially the children we serve. We appreciate your support in advance.
We are doing everything we can to minimize risk and ensure safety of all of our participants and families. However, we cannot do this without your help.
PLEASE DO YOUR PART:
Is anyone in your home experiencing fever, or any illness related symptoms? If so, please stay home and keep your child home. SIGS will be offering make-ups for recreational classes, or credits for missed programming - this is a change in our procedures.
We encourage adults and non-participant children of age to wear face masks. It would be dangerous for athletes to wear masks, however, our coaches and staff will be.
We prefer that only one adult per child be in attendance. We love to see grandparents and aunts and uncles support of athletes, but this is not the time to have extended family at the gym (unless they are the person bringing the participant).
We ask for your help: if siblings MUST ATTEND, please bring things for them to be occupied by. Your non-participant children should stay with you at all times.
Wash your hands with soap for at least 20 seconds. We have several sinks throughout our facility. We also have hand sanitizer for athletes and participants, and will have stations throughout. If you have hand sanitizer to use, please do so to conserve our supplies - as you know, it has been scarce (though we have stocked up as much as possible!).
Students should arrive ready for class or practice, in appropriate attire. Leotards, or workout wear on and ready, hair pulled back. Swim students should arrive in swimwear. Congregating in restrooms or lobby areas is discouraged.
WE ARE COMMITTED TO THE FOLLOWING:
All participants will be offered sanitizer between training events as well as before and after class/practice. Staff will monitor all apparatus and restrooms; their job will be to clean and disinfect between uses. Team members will assist in sanitizing between their rotations.
Our gym doors will be open so that is one less item students and staff will touch. Parents, please do not enter the gyms for any reason - go to the office if you need your student and we will get them for you.
Teams will carry their items with them in a small backpack (like at a meet). Water bottles will not sit on the shelves and cubbies. NO FOOD in the gym, no sharing of food items between participants.
Teams and classes will stay with their group only. Coaches and instructors will stay with their teams or classes. Distancing between teams and classes will be enforced. Ratios of students to coaches/instructors will be maintained; we are unable to make exceptions. Coaches will arrive 15 minutes prior to team begin time to prevent gathering of athletes.
